Dell wasn't good entering into 2006, and you can darn bet it won't be getting any better getting out of 2006. If you look at their share prices, it has plummeted from the $30.61 the first trading day of the year to presently $22.38. That's over 26% in a matter of eight months. To make things worse, just a couple of weeks ago, Dell announced the recall of battery cells that will cost the company over $400 million.
Dell was great before, in fact they shook up the computer industry with their revolutionary concept and business model. But that was then, and this is now. Competitors like Hewlett-Packard and IBM (now Lenovo) were able to react to this, and yet, Dell is still holding on firmly not willing to let go to change.
Industry growth has been stagnant, and nothing new is surprising the market. The fundamentals aren't getting any better, with revenues declining together with lower market share. I'm just not happy with this one anymore. Get out while you can is what I am saying.
